Volvo Group Southern Africa has named Stuart Potter as its new Managing Director, effective 1 March 2026. He succeeds Waldemar Christensen, who moves to Switzerland to lead Volvo Group’s Designwerk Technologies AG.
Potter brings more than three decades of experience in the commercial vehicle industry, including 12 years at Volvo Trucks. Starting his career as a heavy commercial vehicle technician, he has held leadership roles across aftermarket, retail, and operations.

“The heartbeat of the commercial vehicle industry is its people,” he says, stressing the importance of trust and long-term partnerships with fleet owners,” he says.
He highlights the pivotal role of Volvo’s dealer network in South Africa, noting that customers value not only product quality but also finance, service agreements, fleet management, and reliable parts support.
Volvo Group Southern Africa operates from its Jet Park head office, with a Durban assembly plant and a footprint spanning trucks, buses, marine engines, and financial services. The company employs around 750 people and is supported by 20 dealers nationwide.
