
After a six-year absence, Tata passenger vehicles are back in South Africa. The last model to be launched locally was the Bolt, which followed the well-known Indica.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV), a subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd, has announced its return to the South African market with Motus as the exclusive distributor for its passenger vehicle range.
Tata officially exited the local passenger and light commercial vehicle segment in the second half of 2019. Its larger commercial vehicles, including buses and trucks, continued to be available throughTata International South Africa.
With a line-up that spans from compact hatchbacks to high-performance SUVs, TMPV says it is offering a comprehensive range to meet various customer segments and price points.

TMPV says it will also support employment across sales, service, parts distribution and technician training as part of its commitment to local value creation.

Tata Motors claims to have pioneered safety in India, with all its cars achieving four- and five-star ratings from global and Indian NCAP programmes.
The official launch is scheduled for 19 August 2025.
