The Retail Motor Industry Organisation has appointed Henk Ferreira as its new Chief
Operations Officer, effective 1 July 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening its
operational leadership in the automotive aftermarket sector.
The appointment comes as the RMI continues to focus on delivering practical value
to its members and industry stakeholders across a fast-changing motor retail and
aftermarket environment.
RMI Chief Executive Officer Ipeleng Mabusela said Ferreira’s experience would add
important capability to the organisation’s executive structure. He described Ferreira
as a leader with a strong record of converting strategy into measurable operational
outcomes, supported by deep knowledge of automotive finance, insurance and
dealer networks.
Ferreira brings more than 23 years of senior leadership experience to the role, with a
background spanning operational management, digital transformation and regulated
financial services. He joins the RMI from Motus Holdings, where he served as
Executive Head: Sales and Partnerships at M-Sure.
At M-Sure, Ferreira held full profit and loss responsibility across a national network of
independent and franchised dealers. The role gave him direct exposure to the
commercial realities facing dealer businesses, as well as the operational systems
needed to support scale and compliance.
Before joining Motus, Ferreira spent seven years with AutoTrader SA, part of the
Naspers and Prosus stable. During that period, he contributed to one of South
Africa’s major automotive digital transformation projects, helping to grow new
business channels across commercial vehicles, agriculture, motorcycles and leisure
segments.
His work at AutoTrader SA also included developing governance frameworks,
operational infrastructure and reporting systems to support continued growth.
Ferreira also brings practical understanding of FSCA and FAIS requirements in
regulated environments. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business
Administration and an Associate professional designation through the Insurance
Institute of South Africa.
He has been nominated for the Motus Future Leaders Programme at the Gordon
Institute of Business Science and plans to resume his Master of Philosophy studies,
specialising in Innovation and Development, at the University of Johannesburg. His
appointment signals the RMI’s continued focus on operational strength, member
service and sector relevance.
