UK self driving startup Wayve has secured 1.2 billion dollars in fresh investment as it pushes toward large scale deployment of its autonomous mobility platform.
The Series D round includes participation from major automotive manufacturers Mercedes Benz, Stellantis and Nissan, together with technology partners Microsoft, Nvidia and mobility platform Uber. This new capital raises Wayve’s valuation to 8.6 billion dollars and forms part of a wider 1.5 billion dollar package that includes milestone-based funding commitments from Uber.
The company plans to accelerate robotaxi deployments globally, beginning with London, which is set to become one of the earliest testbeds for fully autonomous ride hailing on the Uber network. Additional cities are expected to follow during 2026 as the two firms expand their collaboration. This investment marks the first time multiple automakers have backed Wayve simultaneously, signalling a growing industry shift toward flexible, AI driven autonomous systems that can integrate into a variety of vehicle platforms without reliance on high-definition mapping.

Wayve’s technology is designed to learn from diverse real world data rather than pre-programmed rules, making it adaptable to different environments and vehicle types. Investors are betting that this approach will allow the British startup to scale more efficiently than competitors that depend on map heavy solutions. This confidence comes despite intense competition in London, where firms such as Waymo, Baidu and Lyft are preparing their own autonomous trials.
Beyond robotaxi services, Wayve is deepening partnerships with manufacturers to integrate its autonomous and driver assistance systems into consumer vehicles. Nissan is already preparing to launch models equipped with Wayve technology in its 2027 financial year, while Mercedes Benz and Stellantis are exploring both consumer and robotaxi applications. With more than 2.8 billion dollars raised to date, Wayve is positioning itself as a central technology partner in the next phase of autonomous mobility.
