Volkswagen Group Africa Welcomes New HR Director

Volkswagen Group Africa names Satish Ranchod as HR Director, recognising his three-decade career and leadership in people, culture and governance.

Volkswagen Group Africa has announced the appointment of Satish Ranchod as its new Human Resources Director, effective 1 November 2025. His appointment to the Board of Management marks a milestone in a career spanning more than three decades with the company.

Ranchod began his journey with Volkswagen in 1989 as a Graduate Trainee in Internal Audit before moving into Human Resources, where he played a central role in shaping employee well-being initiatives, governance structures and compensation frameworks. His leadership extended to several key committees, including the VWSA Provident and Pension Funds, Risk and Insurance Committee, and Joint Union and Management Benefits Committees.

He has also represented Volkswagen Group Africa in the Automobile Manufacturers Employer Organisation’s collective bargaining process since 2016, leading financial modelling efforts to support negotiations.

Ranchod holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Processing from Rhodes University and has completed the Volkswagen Group Junior Executive Programme at Ashridge Business School in London.

“Satish’s long-standing commitment and deep understanding of our people and culture will strengthen our position as an employer of choice,” said Martina Biene, Chairperson and Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Africa.
