TruckStore strengthens West Rand presence as South African story adds to global success

TruckStore opens a new West Rand facility in Gauteng, strengthening its South African used-truck network and improving access for logistics buyers.

TruckStore has widened its footprint in Gauteng with the opening of a new West Rand facility, a move that reinforces its position in one of South Africa’s busiest used commercial vehicle regions.

The expansion gives the Daimler Truck Southern Africa used-vehicle business a stronger base from which to serve fleet operators, transport companies and independent buyers seeking dependable pre-owned trucks.

The new site adds to TruckStore’s established presence in Centurion and places the brand closer to key logistics and industrial activity on the western side of Johannesburg. In practical terms, that means improved convenience for customers who need access to stock, support and a more direct route into the used-truck market. In a sector where uptime and value remain critical, location can play an important role in how quickly operators make purchasing decisions.

The latest investment also fits into a broader international story. TruckStore was introduced by Daimler in the early 2000s as a dedicated used commercial vehicle concept aimed at bringing more structure, consistency and confidence to the second-hand truck market. Over time, the model expanded across Europe and developed a reputation for handling vehicles of different brands, ages and body types through a more formal retail process.

South Africa holds a distinctive place in that journey. South Africa became the first market outside Europe to launch TruckStore in 2012, highlighting the importance of the local commercial vehicle sector within Daimler’s wider strategy. Since then, the operation has grown its reputation in the domestic market, serving customers from its core base in Centurion and through selected dealer points.

Against that backdrop, the West Rand opening is more than a property expansion. It signals confidence in the resilience of South Africa’s freight, logistics and construction sectors, all of which continue to rely on cost-effective transport solutions. It also reflects the enduring role of used trucks in keeping businesses mobile when new vehicle pricing and operating costs are under pressure.

For TruckStore, the new facility blends local market relevance with an international heritage that has been evolving for more than two decades. For customers, it brings another point of access to a brand that has steadily built its standing in South Africa’s used commercial vehicle landscape.

TruckStore is located at 3 St. Antonios Road, Krugersdorp.
