Toyota South Africa Motors has broadened its offering with the introduction of the Hiace PWD, a model designed specifically for persons with disabilities. This latest version of the familiar Ses—fikile puts inclusivity at the centre of transport.
The Hiace PWD is built on the 16-seater Hiace platform but has been carefully reconfigured to carry nine passengers along with one wheelchair user. The wheelchair bay is positioned at the rear, giving the occupant a sense of being part of a fourth row of seating. For ease of use, the vehicle is fitted with an automated ramp that folds neatly away when not required, maintaining generous interior space.
Safety has been prioritised through front and rear restraints that keep the wheelchair secure while travelling. A robust ramp extension further simplifies boarding and disembarking.
Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager of Marketing Communications, emphasised that the launch underscores Toyota—s dedication to inclusive transport. She noted that the Hiace PWD is more than a vehicle, it is a promise to make mobility accessible to everyone.
The model will be offered on a Customer Order Only basis at R761 713, ensuring a tailored solution. Buyers also benefit from a 90 000km service plan covering nine services and a 3-year or 100 000km warranty, with flexible extension options available through Toyota—s national dealer network.
