Nissan is preparing to strengthen its South African line up with the introduction of the all new Nissan Tekton, a compact SUV that will play a central role in the brand’s next phase locally. Expected to arrive during 2026, the Tekton will be positioned above the Magnite and targets the highly competitive C SUV segment, one of the most important categories in the market.

Shared Foundations with a Proven Performer
The Tekton is built on the Renault Nissan Alliance CMF B platform and shares its architecture and drivetrains with the latest Renault Duster. This connection is likely to resonate with South African buyers, as the Duster has earned a solid reputation for durability and everyday practicality. By using the same underpinnings, Nissan aims to combine proven mechanicals with its own design and tuning approach.
Power is expected to come primarily from a 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine producing around 115 kW and 250 Nm. Buyers can expect a choice of six speed manual or automatic transmissions. Nissan has also indicated that a mild hybrid option may be offered in selected markets, while four wheel drive variants remain under consideration where demand exists.

Patrol Inspired Styling
Design cues for the Tekton are clearly drawn from the Nissan Patrol, particularly at the front, where a bold grille and C shaped lighting signature create a strong visual link. Despite its compact proportions, the Tekton adopts an upright stance that gives it a solid and purposeful presence. Interior details will be confirmed closer to launch, with an emphasis on modern technology and usable cabin space.

Patrol Remains the Flagship
Alongside the Tekton, Nissan is also preparing the next generation Patrol for South Africa, expected in late 2026 or early 2027. The new Patrol replaces the previous V8 with a 3.5 litre twin turbo V6 producing 317 kW and 700 Nm, paired with a nine speed automatic transmission. It will continue to sit at the top of Nissan’s local range.
Despite the end of Navara production at Rosslyn, the arrival of these two models points to continued commitment from Nissan to the South African market.
