Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles makes its return to the South African market with the launch of its refreshed Tiago, promising a compelling blend of safety, affordability, and modern convenience for urban drivers.
The latest Tiago positions itself as a practical city hatchback that doesn’t compromise on safety or equipment. Tata emphasises the model’s strong safety credentials, sensible design approach, and comprehensive specification levels across the range.
The cabin prioritises both driver convenience and passenger comfort. Practical features include a reverse parking camera, comprehensive infotainment system, and hill hold control technology to simplify urban driving scenarios. Automatic headlamps and fully automatic climate control add to the convenience factor.
Driver ergonomics benefit from height-adjustable seating to ensure an optimal driving position for various body types.
At the heart of the interior technology package sits a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Both USB-A and USB-C charging ports keep devices powered throughout journeys.
Boot capacity stands at a practical 242 litres for everyday storage needs.
Power comes from a 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 63kW and 113Nm of torque. This unit pairs with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission for those preferring a more relaxed driving experience.
The Tiago lineup comprises three trim levels with progressively enhanced equipment. The XM and XT variants launch on 2nd September, with the range-topping XZ following later.
XM specification includes a 3.5-inch infotainment display, rear parking sensors, and a fully digital instrument cluster as standard.
XT models step up with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, four-speaker audio system, Electronic Stability Programme, Hill Hold Control, reverse camera, and steering wheel-mounted controls.
XZ variants add 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay, the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, HD reverse parking camera, fully automatic air conditioning, cruise control, push-button start, an advanced digital instrument cluster, and LED headlamps.
