Tata expands passenger car range in South Africa

Tata Motors has re-entered the South African passenger vehicle market with a fresh line-up that spans from entry-level hatchbacks to premium SUVs. The range offers budget-friendly options alongside more advanced models, giving local buyers more choice in an increasingly competitive segment.

Tata Punch

The Punch is a compact SUV that has been a major success in India, topping sales charts during 2024. It is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine delivering 65kW and 115Nm, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission.

Technology features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, supported by either a 7-inch Harman infotainment screen or a larger 10.25-inch unit with upgraded speakers.

Prices start at R244 900 for the Punch 1.2 Adventure MT, moving up to R339 900 for the top-spec Creative + AMT.

Tata Curvv

The Curvv introduces SUV-coup° styling to Tata—s range, aimed at buyers seeking a blend of sportiness and practicality. Its 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine develops 88kW and 170Nm, matched with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCA automatic.

Higher-spec models add advanced features such as Hill Descent Control, a 360-degree HD camera, a panoramic sunroof, powered seating and premium interior trim.

Prices range from R349 900 for the Curvv 1.2T Pure + MT to R519 900 for the Accomplished S DCA.

Tata Harrier

At the top of the line-up sits the Harrier, a premium SUV built on the Omega Arc platform derived from Land Rover underpinnings. It has a bold exterior design with 18-inch alloys and connected LED tail lamps, while the interior features a 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen, 360-degree surround view system and ambient mood lighting.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre Kryotec turbodiesel engine producing 125kW and 350Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters.

Pricing begins at R549 900 for the Harrier 2.0TD Pure + AT, with the flagship Fearless + AT priced at R699 900.

Tata Tiago

At the entry level, the Tiago hatchback rounds off the line-up, with pricing starting at R184 900 for the Tiago 1.2 XM MT.
