Subaru has unveiled the latest generation of its popular Forester in South Africa, marking the arrival of a model that has become a cornerstone for the brand.
First launched in 1997, the Forester has since achieved more than 4.5 million global sales and remains Subaru's top-selling vehicle locally.
The new Forester brings a more assertive look, featuring a wider grille, compact LED headlights and the brand's updated star-cluster badge. Standard roof rails and the option of 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels add to its practicality and style.
Its generous 220mm ground clearance and carefully engineered approach, break-over and departure angles ensure it is comfortable both on tar and on gravel routes. Customers will appreciate an expanded range of colours, including the striking new River Rock Pearl alongside familiar favourites such as Crystal White Pearl and Magnetite Grey Metallic.

Powering the Forester is Subaru's hallmark 2.5-litre BOXER engine, producing 136kW and 247Nm, paired with a Lineartronic CVT that includes an eight-step manual mode operated via steering wheel paddle shifters. The horizontally opposed layout lowers the centre of gravity for better stability.
Inside, the Forester is spacious and versatile, with a 496-litre boot that expands to 1 174 litres when the rear seats are folded. Thoughtful features include ISOFIX child seat anchors, wide-opening doors and a flat cargo floor.
Comfort is a key focus, with higher-spec models offering a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, powered tailgate and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. All models benefit from Subaru's advanced Driver Recognition system, which uses facial recognition to personalise settings for up to seven drivers.
Pricing starts at R699 000 for the 2.5i Field, with the range-topping Premium model retailing at R830 000.
