Simola Hillclimb Gears Up for 2026

South Africa’s premier motoring lifestyle event returns to Knysna from 30 April to 3 May 2026 with Classic Car Friday and King of the Hill action.

Excitement is mounting as preparations intensify for the 16th Simola Hillclimb, which will unfold in Knysna from 30 April to 3 May 2026.

Widely recognised as South Africa’s leading motoring and motorsport lifestyle event, the Hillclimb continues to attract international attention and a growing number of competitors.

Prospective entrants must act quickly, as the closing date for applications is 31 January. Leon Smith, sporting director of the Simola Hillclimb, has praised the impressive response so far, highlighting the strong interest in both Classic Car Friday and King of the Hill. He reaffirmed the organisers’ commitment to delivering a competitive field and captivating spectacle for fans.

The festivities begin on 30 April with scrutineering and a public parade along the Knysna Waterfront, setting the tone for the weekend. Classic Car Friday on 1 May will see 65 competitors across 10 classes, ranging from vintage treasures to celebrated racing legends. This segment offers a nostalgic journey through motoring history, delighting enthusiasts and casual spectators alike.

The action intensifies with King of the Hill on 2 and 3 May, featuring 84 entries. Competitors will showcase everything from everyday road cars to dream supercars, highly tuned machines, modified saloon racers and cutting‑edge single‑seaters. The variety ensures a thrilling contest, with drivers pushing their limits in pursuit of glory.

From 1 February, organisers will review all entries, with invitations issued by 14 February. The event promises to deliver another unforgettable chapter in its history, blending tradition with modern engineering excellence.

With the deadline looming, aspiring competitors are urged to secure their place. The Simola Hillclimb remains a celebration of speed, skill and passion, and 2026 is set to be one of its most memorable editions yet.
