The arrival of the iCAUR V23 marks a bold step in South Africa’s electric vehicle market, introducing a compact SUV that blends retro styling with modern battery-powered technology. Positioned below the 03T in the brand’s line-up, the newcomer is offered in two versions – a 2WD and an AWD – each designed to broaden iCAUR’s local offering with accessible electric mobility and distinctive character.
The V23’s design draws heavily on classic off-road cues, with squared-off proportions, a flat bonnet, vertical sides and pronounced wheel arches. Circular headlamp surrounds, slim daytime running lights and Lego-inspired tail lamps add to its unique personality. Alloy wheels differ between models, with 19-inch units for the 2WD and 21-inch for the AWD, while LED lighting is standard across the range. Buyers can choose from a palette that includes Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, Cyan Grey, Starlight Silver, Texture Green and Warm Orange.
Despite its compact length of 4 220 mm, the SUV offers a spacious cabin thanks to its 2 735 mm wheelbase. Seating five occupants, it provides 372 litres of luggage space, expanding to 994 litres with the rear seats folded. Standard features include leather upholstery, electrically adjustable ventilated front seats, climate control and a 15.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The AWD adds heated front seats, enhancing comfort for longer journeys.
Performance differs significantly between the two derivatives. The 2WD employs a single rear-mounted motor producing 100 kW and 180 Nm, paired with a 59.93 kWh battery that delivers a range of 360 km and a top speed of 140 km/h. Acceleration is quoted at 11 seconds. The AWD, by contrast, uses a dual-motor system with 155 kW and 292 Nm, supported by a larger 81.8 kWh battery. Range extends to 430 km, with a quicker 7.5-second sprint to 100 km/h. Charging from 20–80% takes 36 minutes for the 2WD and 42 minutes for the AWD using DC fast charging.

Specification levels also set the two versions apart. While both share the same overall design and core equipment, the AWD gains advanced driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist and Blind Spot Detection. It also features a 540-degree surround view camera compared with the reverse camera fitted to the 2WD.
Pricing reflects the performance and equipment differences. The V23 2WD is listed at R519 900, while the AWD comes in at R669 900. Both are supported by an eight-year/200 000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160 000 km battery warranty for the first owner, and a five-year/100 000 km service plan. Roadside assistance is included for eight years/200 000 km, underscoring the brand’s confidence in its new model.
The iCAUR V23 arrives as a distinctive option in South Africa’s growing electric SUV segment, combining retro-inspired design with modern technology and practical packaging. With competitive pricing, strong equipment levels and warranties that inspire confidence, it positions itself as a compelling choice for buyers seeking individuality and electric mobility in a compact format.
