Renault has given its compact SUV a stronger edge with the arrival of the updated Kiger Turbo in South Africa, blending punchier performance with fresh design cues and smarter in‑car technology.
Already a success story with more than 180 000 units sold globally and 28 000 on local roads, the Kiger continues to appeal to urban drivers and young families thanks to its balance of price, practicality and flair.
The latest version is powered by a 1.0‑litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 74 kW and 160 Nm, paired with either a five‑speed manual or Renault’s X‑Tronic CVT. Higher trims add Multi‑Sense drive modes with Eco, Normal and Sport settings. Design updates include Tri Octa LED headlamps, 16‑inch diamond‑cut alloys, 205 mm ground clearance and roof rails capable of carrying 50 kg, with a new Autumn Yellow colour option adding vibrancy.

Inside, the cabin is geared towards comfort and connectivity, offering an eight‑inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven‑inch digital cluster, and on top models, ventilated leatherette seats, climate control, wireless charging and smart access.
Practicality remains a strong suit with a 405‑litre boot expandable to 879 litres. Safety is comprehensive across the range, with ABS, EBD, brake assist, ISOFIX and tyre pressure monitoring standard, while higher trims add stability and traction control plus up to six airbags.
Pricing starts at R278 999 for the Kiger 1.0 Turbo Techno, R298 999 for the Iconic, and R329 999 for the Iconic CVT.
