The first shipment of the 2026 Nissan X-Trail SUVs is en route to South Africa, with the new model set to arrive in showrooms this August. South Africa will be among the first countries outside Europe to receive the upgraded SUV.
Based on the fourth generation, the new X-Trail continues the success of one of the world's best-selling SUVs, with more than eight million units sold globally since its debut in 2001. The 2026 model introduces a sharper design, featuring alloy wheels of up to 19 inches, chrome detailing, roof rails on higher-spec versions and LED lighting across the range.
Inside, the cabin has been significantly upgraded, offering a more refined environment and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Higher-specification models will benefit from the latest generation of Nissan's ProPILOT driving assistance technology, enhancing safety and convenience.
The X-Trail's arrival marks the beginning of a broader product rollout for Nissan in South Africa and across Africa. In partnership with its network of more than 100 dealers, the company aims to strengthen its local presence. Until the new Patrol arrives, the X-Trail will serve as Nissan's flagship SUV, offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations alongside the Magnite and Navara.
