GWM has expanded its South African line-up with the HAVAL H6 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV that blends electric commuting ability with long-distance range and all-wheel-drive performance.
It builds on the established H6 formula of family-focused practicality, now enhanced with electrified power and advanced driver assistance.
The exterior carries the familiar bold SUV presence, with a patterned grille, slim headlamps and LED daytime running lights, striking a balance between sporty appeal and everyday usability. Inside, the cabin is equipped with GWM’s Coffee OS infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen.
Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and a nine-speaker audio system are standard, while comfort features include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and rear seats with armrest and cup holders.
Under the bonnet, the Hi4 hybrid drivetrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors. The 2WD version delivers 240kW and 540Nm, while the AWD variant produces 268kW and 760Nm.

Safety and convenience are bolstered by forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane assistance, driver fatigue monitoring, electronic stability control and a 540-degree panoramic camera system.
Pricing is set at R699 900 for the 2WD model and R749 900 for the AWD version, positioning the H6 PHEV as a technologically advanced yet practical SUV for South African buyers.
