AkzoNobel and McLaren Racing are preparing to take their long-standing alliance into a new chapter, reinforcing a relationship that has spanned nearly twenty years. As McLaren readies itself for its World Endurance Championship (WEC) campaign, both organisations are emphasising their shared ambition to innovate and elevate performance.

Patrick Bourguignon, Director of AkzoNobel’s Automotive and Speciality Coatings division, expressed enthusiasm for the deepening collaboration. He reaffirmed the company’s belief in continuous improvement, noting that both teams will keep exploring new possibilities in sustainability, technology and product development.

Matt Dennington, McLaren Racing’s Co-Chief Commercial Officer, echoed these sentiments, calling AkzoNobel a trusted partner whose dedication reflects McLaren’s drive for excellence. He highlighted that as McLaren steps into the WEC, partnerships built on technical innovation and performance will continue to be essential.

The FIA World Endurance Championship is widely recognised for its long-distance races that challenge the durability, strategy and teamwork of every competitor. Its Hypercar category, introduced in 2021, represents the pinnacle of endurance racing engineering. McLaren’s heritage in the discipline is already well-established, marked by the team’s celebrated victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on its debut in 1995.

Beyond its WEC preparations, McLaren is also gearing up for significant moments in its Formula 1 season. The new McLaren Mastercard F1 car is scheduled for launch on 9 February, with pre-season testing beginning in Bahrain on 12 February. The first Grand Prix of the year is set to take place in Australia on 8 March, promising a busy and exciting season ahead.
