Lexus has taken the wraps off the TZ, a fully electric three-row SUV that represents one of the brand's most ambitious steps into electrification. The model has been unveiled globally and is currently under consideration for introduction to the South African market.
Built on a dedicated battery electric platform, the TZ measures 5 100mm in length with a 3 050mm wheelbase, offering three rows of seating and a cargo capacity ranging from 290 to 2 017 litres. A towing capacity of up to 1 500kg is available under European specification.
The cabin prioritises quietness and comfort, with sustainable materials including forged bamboo and recycled aluminium used throughout the interior. A dual motor all-wheel drive system produces 300kW, with 0 to 100 km/h dispatched in 5.4 seconds and an estimated range of up to 640km. DC rapid charging takes the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in around 35 minutes.
Exterior design features a sculpted spindle body, geometric lighting and aerodynamic detailing, with Lexus claiming class-leading aerodynamics among its SUV range. Inside, features such as Rear Comfort mode and Interactive Manual Drive aim to balance passenger relaxation with driver engagement.
Chief Engineer Takeshi Miyaura described the TZ as a refined mobile space designed to bring enjoyment to both drivers and families. Further details on local market timing will be confirmed once availability decisions are finalised.
