Mazda Southern Africa is preparing for a leadership transition as Bonite van der Merwe steps into the role of Managing Director on 1 October 2025. She currently serves as Head of Operations Sales and Service and has been part of Mazda SA—s senior management for over a decade.
Her appointment follows the departure of Craig Roberts, who has led the company for the past eight years. Roberts will leave to pursue a new business opportunity outside of the automotive industry.
Van der Merwe, a Chartered Accountant, joined Mazda SA in 2014 when it became an Independent National Sales Company of Mazda Motor Corporation. She has previously served as Finance Manager and Head of Finance and Corporate Affairs.
—Bonite, who has been on board with Mazda SA since the inception of Mazda SA as an Independent National Sales Company of Mazda Motor Corporation in 2014, is ideally positioned to assume the leadership role for Mazda in SA,— comments Roberts.
Mazda SA has confirmed its continued commitment to its customers and dealer partners. The company is also preparing to launch new models, including the all-new Mazda CX-5, alongside initiatives such as its Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Lifetime Replacement Parts Warranty.
