Jaguar has entered a new era with the unveiling of the Type 01, its first all-electric luxury grand tourer.
This prototype signals the rebirth of the brand after halting production of all previous models, marking a decisive shift towards a fully electric future.
The Type 01 was showcased in Monaco ahead of the E-Prix, reflecting Jaguar’s deep motorsport heritage. Its design features bold camouflage graphics with signature strikethrough motifs, symbolising the brand’s new identity.
Technology from Jaguar TCS Racing has directly influenced the car’s development, including advanced all-wheel drive control, silicon carbide inverters, and regenerative braking systems.
The naming continues Jaguar’s tradition: “Type” recalls icons like the C-type and E-type, while “01” represents both zero emissions and the first of a new generation. Built in the United Kingdom, the four-door GT promises instinctive performance, refined luxury, and fast-charging capability.
Jaguar’s Type 01 will be officially revealed later in 2026, with South African dealers awaiting confirmation of its local introduction.
This model embodies Jaguar’s ambition to redefine itself as a pure electric luxury marque, competing at the highest level of the EV market.
