Honda Unveils Sleek New Logo for Its Electrified Future

Honda is preparing to launch a minimalist new logo as it transitions further into the electrified age, with the design set to appear globally from 2027 across its vehicles, dealerships and wider brand activities.

The redesigned H-mark features a broader, more grounded shape, with its vertical strokes angled outward “like two outstretched hands,” intended to symbolise the brand’s commitment to meeting customer needs, the company said. Notably, the updated emblem removes the familiar border ring that has long framed the logo.

During a presentation on 13 January, Japan’s second-largest carmaker announced that the refreshed insignia will debut on its next wave of electric and hybrid models arriving from 2027. This includes the forthcoming 0 Series of fully electric vehicles. A Honda representative noted that it is still unclear whether the badge will eventually appear on future petrol-only models.

Beyond vehicles, the emblem will gradually extend to all automotive-related operations—dealerships, communications and even motorsport activities. According to spokesperson Kazumi Tamura, the phased introduction will align with model updates and the unique requirements of different regions. The open-armed styling, Tamura added, is meant to convey a sense of welcoming new possibilities and engaging with users more directly.

This redesign marks only the third major overhaul of Honda’s logo since its debut in 1963. Previous significant revisions took place in 1969 and 1981—the latter forming the basis of the emblem in use today. Minor adjustments were made in subsequent years, most recently in 2001.

Honda says the new direction reflects its evolving brand identity at a time when the automotive sector is undergoing profound transformation driven by electrification and artificial intelligence. The company describes the reimagined H-mark as symbolising a “second founding,” underlining its ambition to lead the industry with forward-looking technologies and customer-centred innovation.

With this change, Honda joins a growing list of manufacturers—including General Motors, Kia and Nissan—that have refreshed their logos in recent years to signal a shift towards modern, tech-focused mobility.
