Electric mobility in South Africa continues to gain momentum, and Geely has added to the choice with the arrival of the E5 Apex Plus.
This model is positioned as the flagship of the E5 range, sitting above the Aspire and Apex derivatives, and is designed to combine everyday practicality with the benefits of advanced electric technology.
Its proportions are typical of a modern SUV, measuring 4615 mm in length, 1901 mm in width and 1670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The cabin is spacious, offering 461 litres of luggage capacity, making it suitable for family travel and daily commuting alike.
Performance is delivered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 160 kW and 320 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h. The Apex Plus is equipped with a 68.39 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, larger than the Apex model’s 60.22 kWh unit, which extends the WLTP range to 450 km compared with 410 km.
Charging options include AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 100 kW, with 30 to 80 percent charge achievable in about 20 minutes.
The interior is centred on technology and comfort, with a 15.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital driver display, wireless smartphone charging and voice control. Leather seating, power-adjustable front seats and a panoramic sunroof add to the premium feel. Both the Apex and Apex Plus share this specification, but the Plus distinguishes itself with its larger battery and longer range, making it more versatile for extended journeys.
Pricing begins at R699 999 for the Aspire, R759 999 for the Apex and R788 888 for the Apex Plus.
Ownership is supported by Geely Care+, which includes a six-year or 150 000 km vehicle warranty, a six-year or 120 000 km service plan, an eight-year or 200 000 km battery warranty and five years of unlimited roadside assistance. Buyers also receive a wall box charger, an emergency charging cable and a R12 000 charging voucher when financed through Geely Finance, reinforcing the practicality of moving into electric mobility.
