Citroën has broadened its local portfolio with the arrival of the Basalt, a sleek SUV‑coupé designed to balance bold styling with everyday practicality. Slotting into the brand’s C‑Cubed programme alongside the C3 and Aircross, it introduces a fastback silhouette and a package tailored to South African driving conditions.
The Basalt blends elevated ground clearance and rugged detailing with coupé‑inspired proportions, while its cabin focuses on comfort and intuitive technology. It offers seating for five, a 470‑litre boot, and a clean cockpit anchored by a 10‑inch floating touchscreen with wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, paired with a 7‑inch digital instrument cluster.
Automatic air‑conditioning, rear vents, and thoughtful ergonomics reinforce its family‑friendly appeal.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.2‑litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 81kW and 205Nm, matched to a six‑speed automatic transmission.
Two trims are available: the Basalt PLUS at R354 900 and the Basalt MAX at R369 900, both positioned as stylish yet practical alternatives in the compact SUV segment.
