Chery has introduced its new flagship model, the Tiggo 9, to the South African market. This seven-seater SUV combines modern styling, advanced technology and a focus on comfort, positioning it at the top of the brand's local line-up.
The Tiggo 9 offers two powertrain options: a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid variant. The petrol engine produces 187kW and 390Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with front or all-wheel drive depending on trim. The plug-in hybrid uses Chery's Super Hybrid system with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric drive. The Pinnacle CSH model delivers 165kW and 390Nm with an 18.3kWh battery, providing up to 90km of electric range. The top-tier Vanguard CSH boasts 455kW and 920Nm, thanks to a 34.4kWh battery, and can travel up to 160km on electric power alone.

Measuring just over 4.8 metres long with a ground clearance of 183mm, the Tiggo 9 presents a bold exterior featuring sleek lines, a 3D diamond grille and a full-width LED tail light bar. A panoramic sunroof is standard across the range.
Inside, a 2+3+2 layout provides seating for seven, with up to 2 065 litres of cargo space when the second-row seats are folded. The cabin features premium finishes, including leather upholstery, power-adjustable seating, climate control and a panoramic display setup with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen.
The Pinnacle CSH FWD is priced at R839 900, while the Vanguard CSH AWD comes in at R989 900. Both models include a seven-year service plan, a seven-year warranty and a ten-year engine warranty for the first owner. Battery warranties for hybrid versions extend up to ten years with unlimited mileage.
