Breaking barriers in Women's Month: entrepreneur's pink fleet makes powerful statement

As Women's Month celebrations highlight female achievement across industries, one South African businesswoman is making her mark in spectacular fashion. Kiara Baijnath, founder and director of HerWay Logistics, has just welcomed her sixth Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645 to her distinctive pink fleet, a bold symbol of female empowerment in the traditionally male-dominated transport sector. Drawing inspiration from childhood journeys with her grandfather, a truck driver, Kiara's path into logistics stemmed from both nostalgia and determination to challenge industry norms.

"I've always envisioned myself as a girl boss and a thrill seeker," says Kiara. "When the opportunity to enter the transport business came up, I grabbed it with both hands. It's something that's been close to my heart since I was a little girl."

Established in 2024, HerWay Logistics operates as a customer-focused company delivering comprehensive local and long-haul transport solutions across various industry sectors and corporate organisations, building a reputation for reliability in goods and parcel transportation nationally.

The Mercedes-Benz Actros selection wasn't arbitrary. "The Actros aligns perfectly with our company's goal of fuel efficiency, safety and reliability," Kiara explains. "And pink? It's my favourite colour. It represents womanhood and strength. There aren't many women in this industry, and I wanted to make a bold statement."

Her advice to women considering commercial transport careers resonates with Women's Month themes: "Step into this field. It's exciting and full of opportunity. Yes, there will be challenges, but we'll overcome them with strength. Be yourself, live your dreams and know that anything is possible."

Through HerWay Logistics, Kiara hopes to inspire South African women to pursue transport and logistics careers, demonstrating that success roads remain wide open.

"We are happy to have Kiara as part of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks family and to celebrate this exciting milestone with her as she takes delivery of her sixth Mercedes-Benz Actros," comments Mark Croxon, CEO of Sandown Motor Holdings.

Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa, adds: "I'd like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Kiara. At DTSA, we're inspired by pioneers like Kiara, driving change and opening doors for the next generation of women in logistics. Your determination and vision are truly commendable. We look forward to a strong and growing partnership with HerWay Logistics."
